The difference between home quarantine and self isolation

The terms quarantine and isolation are words that we’ve been hearing a lot nowadays as officials are spreading awareness on how to contain COVID-19. Both practices have the goal of keeping the virus from infecting more people, but they are not the same.

Home Quarantine

  • This is separating yourself from others for 14 days until it is clear if you’ve caught the disease or not. This is because it takes about 2 – 14 days for symptoms to appear.
  • For people who were exposed to COVID-19 positive patients.

Self Isolation

  • This is separating yourself to limit the virus from spreading even further.
  • For people who have a contagious illness.

We’re all responsible for our health and safety. Take preventive measures and stay vigilant.
