How Often Should You Change Your Prescription Glasses?

The eyes allow you to enjoy the world. Your vision can dictate the quality of your life, which is why it’s important to take care of your eye health.  You can take care of your eye health through lifestyle changes such as:

  • Eating right: these foods are helpful for your eye health such as fish, eggs, almonds, dairy, carrots, kale, and oranges.
  • Exercising regularly
  • Knowing if your vision has changed
  • Giving your eyes a break
  • Wearing your eyeglasses regularly

If you have vision problems and wear glasses, you should know when to change your prescription glasses.

When to Change Your Prescription Glasses?

Your prescription eyewear should last one to three years. Some signs might signal you need to change your prescription eyewear, such as vision problems.

These vision problems could include blurry vision, headaches, squinting at the screen, lens damage, and double vision. If you have these symptoms, visit your eye doctor.

However, the length of use of prescription eyewear depends on person to person.

Here are some of the common reasons why your prescription eyewear has changed:

  • Myopia
  • Cataracts
  • Age-related degeneration
  • Astigmatism
  • Keratoconus
  • Presbyopia

The changes in your vision should not be a cause for fear as some of these changes can be normal. Contact your doctor and talk to them about these changes.
