Meet iCare’s Chief Growth Officer

Geronimo V. Francisco, better known as “Ronnie” among his friends and colleagues, has long been passionate about making health care coverage accessible and affordable for all Filipinos aspiring to reach their health goals.

Ronnie’s strategic planning and pricing helped iCare achieve fifth place in revenues, as stated in the recent Insurance Commission report.

Since joining iCare in 2019 as Vice President and Head of the Analytics, Risk, and Compliance Division, Ronnie has worn multiple hats. His role includes oversight of the Actuarial Services & Reinsurance, Product and Data Analytics, and Underwriting Departments. Additionally, he serves as iCare’s Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer.

By streamlining various functions, Ronnie ensures not only sustainable and competitive pricing for Filipinos but also fosters company growth and operational efficiency through his strategic leadership. His ability to balance multiple roles contributes to more informed decision-making and a cohesive approach to risk management and product development.

CAREER JOURNEY

Graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Santo Tomas, Ronnie’s career began at Fortune Life as an Actuarial Management Trainee. After five years of exceptional work, he was promoted to Actuarial Assistant Manager.

He later joined PhilamCare where he spent six years, leaving as SAVP – Actuarial and Membership Administration. Following this, Ronnie became VP for Underwriting and Actuarial at Maxicare Healthcare Corporation.

In 2006, Ronnie joined Fortune Medicare as SVP for Operations and Chief Actuary. He was later appointed President and COO of Fortune Care in 2013.

Before joining iCare, Ronnie served as a Senior Consultant at Willis Towers Watson.

PHILOSOPHY AND OUTLOOK

Ronnie believes in the importance of a balanced mindset. “There’s no magic fix to make work perfect or stress-free. But by shifting your mindset and becoming a more calm, less reactive person, you can take life in stride while bringing out the best in yourself. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Always apply the Pareto principle both at work and in life,” he says.

LIFE BEYOND THE CORPORATE WORLD

Outside of work, Ronnie enjoys traveling and exploring different local cuisines. His interests extend to museums, historical places, and artifacts, with a particular fascination for the British Royal Family, Egyptian civilization, and extraterrestrial life.

Ronnie also serves as a Board Trustee of the Manila Science High School Alumni Foundation, supporting scholarships for deserving students, and sits on the Board of Trustees of the Association of Health Maintenance Organizations in the Philippines (AHMOPI).

An active volunteer at PAWS (Philippine Animal Welfare Society), Ronnie advocates for animal rights and supports legislation aimed at improving animal welfare.

In 2003, Ronnie was honored with the UST TOTAL (The Outstanding Thomasian Alumni) Award in the Young Achiever category.
