Peter Mark P. Serrano is a dedicated professional with a deep passion for Information Security. Since joining iCare in January 2024, Peter has played a pivotal role in significantly enhancing and maintaining the company’s cybersecurity rating. His commitment to protecting iCare’s data and systems ensures that the organization remains resilient against evolving cyber threats while fully complying with data protection regulations.  

In his dual roles as Information Security Manager (ISM) and Data Protection Officer (DPO), Peter oversees critical functions integral to the security and success of iCare.  

As Information Security Manager, Peter is responsible for developing and implementing security policies, conducting risk assessments, overseeing monitoring and incident response, and ensuring compliance with industry security standards. He also leads efforts to educate iCare staff on cybersecurity, helping to build a culture of security awareness across the organization.  

As a Data Protection Officer, Peter ensures iCare’s strict adherence to data protection laws, particularly the Data Privacy Act of 2012. He develops and enforces privacy policies, conducts privacy impact assessments, manages data breach responses, and serves as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities regarding data protection matters.   

With a focus on security and compliance, Peter is an essential leader in safeguarding iCare’s assets and clients’ data.  

CAREER JOURNEY

Peter built a strong academic foundation at Informatics Computer College of Diliman, where he excelled as a student-athlete and campus leader, serving as Student Council President and a Basketball Varsity Player. His professional career spans over 16 years of progressive experience across major industries such as healthcare, finance, energy, and business process outsourcing.  

Peter spent eight years at Accenture as an IT Operations Team Lead, managing server and network infrastructures, security vulnerabilities, and process improvements. Following this, he took on the role of IT Vulnerability Lead at Wells Fargo, acting as a liaison between business and technology teams to manage security exceptions and remediation. At MERALCO, he served as a Cyber Security Analyst, overseeing cybersecurity protocols and threat response for critical infrastructure.   

Before joining iCare, Peter worked at City Savings Bank as an Assistant Manager for Information Security Governance, where he took part in developing strong governance models and risk mitigation strategies.  

Professionally, Peter’s proactive approach to IT security was recognized in 2016 when he received the Top Information Security Award at Accenture for his outstanding contributions to IT security initiatives, solidifying his reputation as a dedicated leader and accomplished professional.  

LIFE BEYOND THE CORPORATE WORLD  

Peter is also a community leader with a deep-rooted passion for sports. Actively engaged in basketball, the Philippines’ all-time favorite sport, Peter channels his enthusiasm into community-driven initiatives by conducting basketball training camps for kids and organizing competitive leagues that bring his community together.  

He is also highly active in the cybersecurity space, participating in esteemed organizations such as the Information Security Officer Group (ISOG) where he continually expands his expertise and contributes to the field.
