A coughs or wheezing may not cause much concern for most of us as some people associate having trouble breathing as just another sign that we are getting older. Keep Your Lungs Healthy

- Avoid exposure to air pollutants Avoid secondhand smoke. Use natural cleaning products. Avoid use of synthetic air fresheners. Do not exercise in traffic congested areas.
- Prevent infection Wash hands often. Avoid crowded places. Keep distance from sick people. Stay home when sick. Eat a healthy diet. Consult your doctor for recommended vaccines.
- Exercise. Aerobic exercises, such as walking and running, strengthen the lungs. Muscle-strengthening activities such as Pilates builds core strength, improving posture and toning breathing muscles.
