19 Oct Bike Safely
Since the pandemic, a lot of us have taken on cycling as a mode of transportation to work, or as a form of exercise. It is veryimportant to follow the proper safety measures when biking. Here are a couple of reminders to keep in mind so we can all be safe on the road.
1) Always wear your safety gear: mask, helmet, pads.
Never hop on the road without complete gear. For your safety, make sure that your helmet and pads fit you properly. And to follow government guidelines, always wear your mask whenever you’re outside. Make sure that everything fits you well and that nothing will come off while you’re riding.
2) Check your bike before riding.
Make it a part of your routine to check your bike before riding it, this prevent mishaps from happening while you’re on the road. All parts should be secure and working properly.
3) Plan to be seen.
Opt to wear neon, fluorescent or bright clothing to be seen by drivers. If you can, attach lights infront and behind your bike for extra visibility.
4) Use hand signals when turning, and take extra care when you’re at intersections.
For your safety and for the safety of others, let other motorists know where you’re going by signalling.
5) Always follow traffic laws.
Being on a bike doesn’t excempt you from traffic laws. Cyclists must follow the same rules as motorists.
Ride safely!
