Sleeping All Day and Still Feeling Tired? You Might Be Experiencing a Symptom of These Conditions

There can be several reasons why you are feeling tired despite sleeping all day. Everyone has different sleep requirements, with school-aged children needing 9 to 11 hours of sleep while adults are recommended to have 7 to 9 hours of sleep. 

Chronic fatigue can be a symptom of underlying conditions such as: 

  • Iron deficiency 
  • Sleep apnea 
  • Depression 
  • Pregnancy 
  • Diabetes 
  • Underactive thyroid 
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome 
  • Narcolepsy 

 

Address Tiredness 

You can also impose some lifestyle changes if you feel that your quality of sleep has been affecting your life. 

You can boost your energy levels by: 

  • Eating a balanced diet: a balanced diet promotes healthy digestion, which can help clear and cleanse your body. Research found that irritable bowel syndrome is linked to chronic fatigue syndrome.  
  • Exercising regularly: working out releases endorphins that can help you increase your energy levels. 
  • Hydrating and consuming less caffeine: dehydration can cause low levels of energy. Cutting down caffeine can also help reduce feelings of withdrawal as you balance out your energy levels. 
  • Managing your stress levels: stress can affect your sleeping schedule, which might cause you to feel tired the whole day. Do something that you feel will relax you such as meditation practices, your favorite hobbies, and pampering yourself with a spa day. 

If you feel that your constant tiredness needs more than a lifestyle change, talk to your doctor to cross out any underlying conditions that might be causing it.
