17 Oct Star Power and Better Health: iCare Celebrates 34 Years with Quezon
In a world that moves too fast, some stories remind us to pause, to reflect on who we are, and to celebrate the values that bind us together. At the Ayala Malls Cinema in Glorietta, iCare hosted a special block screening of the film Quezon. The event brought together clients, corporate partners, employees, and leaders for an evening that celebrated both legacy and health.
More than a movie night, the event was part of iCare’s anniversary celebration themed “34 Years, Together for Better Health.” The screening honored not only the story of a revered icon but also iCare’s journey as a trusted HMO that has made quality healthcare accessible to a million Filipinos. Through its wide network of accredited hospitals and doctors, iCare continues to champion health as a shared responsibility among individuals, families, and corporations.
As a leading HMO in the country, iCare empowers HR teams, top employers, and business leaders to deliver meaningful health programs that protect their people and drive productivity. The Quezon screening reflected this same belief that health, heritage, and human connection form the foundation of a better society.
The film Quezon portrayed the personal and political dimensions of President Manuel L. Quezon, capturing both his strength and vulnerability.
Beyond sponsorship, iCare served as the official insurance and healthcare partner of Quezon, providing emergency care coverage for the actors, crew, and staff throughout the film’s production and promotion. It was a partnership rooted in shared values that supported Filipino creativity while safeguarding the well-being of the people who make meaningful stories possible.
Before the screening began, iCare President and CEO Geronimo “Ronnie” V. Francisco addressed the audience, highlighting iCare’s milestone year. He proudly announced that iCare had reached a historic achievement, now covering one million lives, and is on track to attain PHP10 billion in sales by year-end. The crowd applauded, recognizing how far the company had come and how its commitment to affordable healthcare continues to touch lives across the country.
Following Francisco’s message, iCare Chief Commercial Officer Gideon V. Peña introduced TBA Studios President and Quezon Executive Producer Daphne Chiu-Soon, who expressed gratitude for iCare’s support of Philippine cinema. She shared how the film honors Filipino resilience and leadership, themes that mirror iCare’s advocacy for accessible and compassionate healthcare.
She then welcomed the cast members, including Jake Macapagal as Manuel Nieto, Mon Confiado as President Emilio Aguinaldo, Benjamin Alves as the young Manuel Quezon, and Therese Malvar as Nadia Hernando. The audience warmly received each of them, showing admiration for the talent that brings the country’s stories to life.
As the film ended, the audience began to rise when a familiar voice echoed through the cinema. “Hey guys, it’s Janine. Hello iCare family!” said Janine Gutierrez, iCare’s brand ambassador and one of the most admired actresses in the country. Her surprise greeting, recorded on Jericho Rosales’s Instagram story with the caption “Janine Gutierrez being TBGFITW [the best girlfriend in the world],” brought laughter and delight to the crowd.
Janine expressed her happiness at being part of the iCare family, saying, “Hindi lang health ko ang inaalagaan ninyo, pati na rin ang love life ko. (You’re taking care not only of my health but also of my heart).” The audience erupted in laughter and cheers. She went on to thank iCare’s leaders for their support and enthusiasm, adding that while she was not part of the movie, she was proud to introduce the man who portrayed President Quezon, her beau Jericho Rosales.
Jericho then appeared before the audience with his signature charm, thanking everyone for watching Quezon. “Excellente!” he exclaimed in Quezon’s familiar tone. “Thank you so much for watching Quezon. Jericho Rosales po, as Manuel Luis Quezon.” The audience responded with cheers and laughter as he playfully asked, “Did you guys love it? Do you guys love me?” Their resounding “Yes!” filled the theater.
Jericho thanked iCare for supporting the film and encouraged everyone to continue championing Filipino cinema.
“You supported cinema, you supported our culture, and you supported our history. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. (Thank you so much to all of you) We love you guys. Thank you, iCare.”
That evening captured the essence of iCare as one of the best and most trusted HMOs in the Philippines. The company’s approach to healthcare blends Singaporean efficiency with the genuine care and compassion of Filipinos. iCare now stands as the number one HMO in terms of accredited hospitals and clinics, and second in overall provider network nationwide. Its mission to deliver affordable, quality healthcare has made it a preferred choice among top employers, corporate clients, and professionals across industries.
From small businesses to large enterprises, iCare continues to redefine employee benefits and corporate healthcare through programs that promote wellness, prevention, and peace of mind. Its growing reach across the country ensures that every Filipino, whether through a company plan or individual coverage, has access to trusted doctors, reliable hospitals, and compassionate service.
As the night came to a close, one message resonated with every guest: legacy, like health, is built through consistent care.
“This is a very timely film and also a good reminder to always take care of our health amidst the successes and power we may achieve in our career. Always say yes to better health,” said Ronnie Francisco.
His words served as a fitting conclusion to a night that honored both history and humanity.
After 34 years of enabling Filipinos to access affordable and trusted healthcare, iCare remains steadfast in its mission to empower individuals, families, and organizations to say yes to better health, today and always.
