12 Jan Where Shared History Meets Compassionate Care: iCare Enters an Evolving Partnership with Healthway Philippines
Meaningful progress rarely happens overnight. It is built through grit, proven trust, and years of mutual commitment to deliver better health through better care.
What once started as a strategic partnership has grown into a partnership founded on trust and the common dream to bring human purpose within the healthcare system.
iCare enters an evolving partnership with Healthway Medical Network as the two companies enter a shared journey of growing, expanding, and reaching more communities for the common goal of accessible care.
Healthway Philippines’ Chief Operating Officer, Edwin Magsino, cited plans to support this partnership, including adding more clinics.
“So, we are still committed to providing affordable and quality health care to all iCare members, supported by our growing network of clinics,” Magsino said.
Evolving Partnerships for the Benefit of the Community
iCare President and CEO, Geronimo V. Francisco, looked back on the history of the partnership, with what started as only a preferred primary care center, then iCare became the first accredited HMO of Healthway Cancer Care Center in 2024.
“This partnership has really evolved. This is not a continuation. We really appreciate that because it really supports our objective of coming up with a feasible and affordable health solution to our members, and sustainable at the same time,” Francisco said.
“So, it’s a win-win situation for our members, the companies we serve, and of course Healthway.”
In October, iCare, together with Healthway Cancer Care, Hair for Hope, and HEADS by volu-med, launched a hair donation drive.
The initiative resulted in having 43 bags of donated hair, which will then be transformed into wigs for individuals experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions or treatments.
In September, iCare was honored to receive the Access Champion Award from AC Health, an Ayala company.
The award also highlights the strong partnership with Healthway Medical Network in expanding nationwide healthcare access.
Shared History Forges the Path Towards a Common Dream
Jaime Ysmael, President and CEO of Healthway Philippines, acknowledged the shared roots of the two parties, citing that it has become very apparent with the values iCare and Healthway embody.
“We have a common, to a certain extent, we trace our common history together,” Ysmael said.
“So, the values are quite consistent, very consistent between our two organizations, and we carry these values even up to now. We embody our values to our mantra, care beyond cure, and I’m sure that that’s also, as mentioned earlier, you really are for quality, affordable, compassionate care, which we all, which we also adhere to.”
President and CEO of AC Health, Paolo Borromeo, said that there was a “common alignment” between the companies.
“So, count on our support. I told them, ‘I want to be their top healthcare provider partner.’ So, I know we still have a lot to do because, of course, we’re competing with really big players. We’re the same as you guys are,” Borromeo said.
“But my dream is to become the top healthcare provider partner for you.”
Currently, iCare stands as the No. 1 HMO in the Philippines in terms of the number of accredited hospitals and clinics, with nearly 2,000 hospitals and clinics and over 50,000 doctors and medical practitioners nationwide.
Today, iCare has the largest network of Animal Bite Centers nationwide, signifying proactive initiatives in the common health concerns of Filipinos in every community.
