June 8, 2026 Leadership Grounded in HMO Expertise: Meet Geronimo V. Francisco, President and CEO of iCare
Healthcare is ultimately built on trust. Behind every healthcare card issued, every employer benefit designed, and every member served are countless decisions that must balance affordability, sustainability, clinical quality, and financial responsibility. Leading those decisions at iCare is Geronimo V. Francisco, popularly known throughout the healthcare and insurance industry as Ronnie Francisco.
On 29 May 2026, the Board of Directors reaffirmed its confidence in Ronnie’s leadership by approving his reappointment as President and Chief Executive Officer, underscoring its continued support for the Company’s long-term strategy of sustainable growth, prudent governance, and responsible healthcare management.
Today, iCare ranks among the Philippines’ top three Health Maintenance Organizations in terms of membership fee revenue, reflecting the confidence that employers, organizations, and individual members continue to place in the Company.
What distinguishes Ronnie’s leadership is a combination rarely found in the healthcare industry. While many executives build their careers through sales, finance, or operations, Ronnie is an actuary by profession. His ability to translate complex healthcare risks into sustainable business strategies has helped shape the way iCare approaches product development, pricing, underwriting, risk management, and long-term financial stewardship.
Among the chief executives of the Philippines’ leading Health Maintenance Organizations, Ronnie is uniquely recognized as the only actuary serving as President and Chief Executive Officer. This perspective enables him to make decisions that consider not only today’s healthcare needs but also the long-term sustainability of healthcare financing for members, employers, healthcare providers, and shareholders alike.
Ronnie joined iCare in 2019 as Chief Risk Officer and Chief Actuary, where he strengthened the Company’s enterprise risk management framework, actuarial discipline, regulatory compliance, and underwriting capabilities. He was later appointed Chief Growth Officer, expanding his leadership over corporate strategy, business development, product innovation, and commercial growth before assuming the role of President and Chief Executive Officer in 2025.
His professional career spans more than 31 years across the healthcare, insurance, and actuarial consulting sectors. Throughout that time, he has earned a reputation as one of the country’s foremost experts in managed healthcare financing, actuarial science, healthcare risk management, and product innovation. His experience has enabled him to guide organizations through periods of industry transformation while maintaining financial discipline, operational resilience, and customer-focused growth.
Beyond leading iCare, Ronnie has played an active role in advancing the Philippine healthcare industry. He serves on the Insurance Commission’s Technical Working Group, contributing to the development of the country’s regulatory framework for Health Maintenance Organizations. He is also an Associate Member of the Actuarial Society of the Philippines and an active member of its Healthcare Committee, where he supports initiatives that promote sound actuarial practice, stronger industry standards, and responsible healthcare governance.
His academic achievements reflect the same pursuit of excellence that has defined his professional career. Ronnie graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics major in Actuarial Science from the University of Santo Tomas before pursuing graduate studies in Applied Mathematics (Actuarial Science) at the University of the Philippines Diliman. He is also the recipient of the UST TOTAL Award (Ten Outstanding Thomasian Alumni) – Young Achiever Award, recognizing his outstanding professional accomplishments and contributions to his profession.
Colleagues describe Ronnie as a leader who combines analytical precision with quiet humility. His decisions are guided not by short-term results alone but by a commitment to responsible stewardship, disciplined execution, and the belief that sustainable healthcare requires balancing the interests of members, employers, healthcare providers, employees, regulators, and shareholders.
Under Ronnie’s leadership, iCare continues to invest in innovation, strengthen its governance framework, expand access to quality healthcare, and enhance the customer experience while remaining focused on its purpose of enabling more Filipinos to say yes to better health.
