Pilates is something that anyone can do. From beginner to advanced, young and the old, this low-impact exercise is suitable to the general community. A typical Pilates workout consists of a stretches and exercises that are done through precise ranges of motion. This exercise also requires a lot of concentration as you need to be able to find the center point of your body to be able to control it through the movements. Practicing Pilates can be very beneficial for your health and wellbeing, here are some of the perks:

No Equipment Needed
Don’t have weights at home? That’s alright you won’t be needing them for this. For mat-based Pilates, you can just practice at home. All you need is a yoga mat and your own body weight to provide resistance for the workout.

Develops Core Strength
Pilates does a lot for your core, known as your “powerhouse” in Pilates lingo. Our core comprises of the muscles on our back, abdomen and pelvic floor. A nice perk of core training is that it promotes flat abs, something that we all covet.

Improves Posture and Relieves Back Pain
People who practice pilates generally have good posture because of the good alignment and improved core strength that they get from the exercise. Pilates addresses the structural imbalances that may be causing the backpain by teaching good alignment and by giving tight back muscles a gentle stretch.

Gives You a Leaner Appearance
Pilates gives you a good workout without bulking you up. It creates strong, long and lean muscles along with a better posture that gives you a more graceful appearance.

Remember to consult your doctor before embarking on any new exercise routine to make sure that it is suitable for your body’s needs.
