Diet Myths: Fact or False

Everyone wants to lose weight and keep it off. When it comes to weight loss, there are a lot of beliefs, and so many diets that promise almost instant results. Separating myths from facts can help you make lifestyle changes to finally get you started on healthier habits.

Fat-free is healthier

No. Our body needs to give your body energy and support cell growth, bt it should be coming from good sources like saturated fat, which is our body’s preferred type of fat.

 

Cheat days are okay

Yes, it is okay to have cheat days. Cheat days are actually good for your dieting because it motivates you and gives you something to look forward to. Depriving yourself could lead to binge eating once you give in to your cravings.

 

Low-carb diets are the best way to lose weight

No. While low-carb diets may be great in terms of losing weight short term, it is not advisable to do it for long term.

Carbohydrates are our body’s most preferred energy source. Too much carb restriction may cause your body to break down fat for energy, which can have detrimental effects, especially if you’re concerned with issues such as hypertension and heart disease.

 

There aren’t a lot of rice substitutes available

There are plenty of options that you can choose when you want to cut back a bit on your rice intake. Some of these are wheat bread, oats, adlai, and sweet potatoes.
