Guilt-Free Snacks for Diabetics

Just because you’re diabetic, doesn’t mean that finding snacks has to be hard for you. There are plenty of easy and guilt-free snacks that you can have, some are probably in your kitchen already.

Hard boiled eggs

One or two of these could already make you full, which is great for diabetics as they have to be careful not to overeat. Diabetics tend to be more likely to become overweight and develop heart disease. Eggs are also a good source of protein.

Hummus and Vegetables

Hummus is a healthy spread made of mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. This tastes great when paired with vegetables like carrots, broccoli, or cauliflower. This tasty snack is packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Almonds

They contain fiber, protein, and healthy fats that are great for diabetes management.  Almonds are quite high in calories, so manage your portions to one handful per snack.

Popcorn

One of the best snacks for diabetics because it’s low in calories. Most prepackaged popcorn contains a lot of salt and trans fat, so it’s best to air-pop your own at home.

Avocados

These have high fiber content and monounsaturated fatty acids, which is good for insulin sensitivity. Having high insulin sensitivity means that the body can make use of glucose better, which reduces blood sugar.
